“Why does nothing change, when everyone wants change?”

Budgets, tools, training programs. And still, it stalls.

The usual explanation, “we’re pulling the wrong levers”, is still too optimistic: it assumes there is a right lever, somewhere, that we simply haven’t found.

There is something deeper than levers: the mental toolkit, the stock of words, categories and reference points available in an organization, which determines not what we think, but what is thinkable.
